Colutta's history started back in 1939, when Antonio Colutta decided to buy a country house in Manzano with a small vineyard and some field crops. At first, the wines produced were meant for the family, and residents in the village who had become acustome to the quality of wines produced at Colutta. In 1968, the winery decided to expand its business operations to a full time estate, and planted their first vineys of Tocai. By 1985, Colutta had become recognized as a staple of quality Friulian white and red wines, not just locally, but internationally. Today, the estate owns and farms 18 hectares by hand with respects to the land. Colutta is dedicated to low enviormental impacts of the land as well as sustainable and organic farming practices. A few of the business practices Colutta strickly follows are - Recycle materials such as corks, label paper and cardbord boxes, re-using rain water, and being energy self sufficent with solar panels. The precision and purity of their wines is remarkable and a staple of the Colutta house style.
